Associate Professor Napaporn Chayovan, Dean of the Training Center, is also Deputy Director of the College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University. She studied Sociology and Demography at Chulalongkorn University, University of London and University of Michigan. In 1973 she received a master degree in Demography from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, and a doctorate degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan.

Napaporn Chayovan joined the College of Population Studies (then known as the Institute of Population Studies) in 1973. She served as the leader/director of many national survey projects, including the Value of Children, the Thailand Demographic and Health Survey, the Socio-Economic and Demographic Consequences of the Ageing Population in Thailand, Status of Women and Fertility in Thailand, The Survey of Welfare of Elderly in Thailand, and Economic Crisis, Demographic Dynamic and Family in Thailand. Her areas of interest include fertility, reproductive health, women issues, ageing and population projections.

Napaporn Chayovan has published several articles in nationally and internationally referee journals, research reports and papers. The most recent publications are chapters in books entitled Ageing and Long-Term Care: National Policies in the Asia-Pacific (Institute of Southeast Asian Studies) and The Well-Being of the Elderly in Asia: A Four-Country Comparative Study (The University of Michigan Press).
